Every piece is unique: I try to alter the detailing in each canoe and Kayak to make them one of a kind.  Although the shell of each canoe is built using the same wood essence (cherry wood), the grain is always slightly different: it becomes evident once the finish is applied. That "unique" look is mostly achieved by using different wood species for different fittings, decks, trims, yoke, paddles and other parts.

 

I divide my canoes into two categories:

            - the basic canoe model: short decks, woven seats, yoke and a couple paddles.

            - the specialty themed canoe model: more intricate detailing.  The best example is the "courting canoe".
